Privacy Policy

This policy explains how Inderjit Singh Grewal, operating the Can-U pilot in British Columbia, handles personal information for the website, family-coordination service, and SMS program.

What Can-U collects

Depending on how a household uses Can-U, the service may collect:

  • coordinator account information, including an email address and sign-in records;
  • household information, including a household name and time zone;
  • information a coordinator provides about family members and helpers, such as names, relationships, phone numbers, and relevant commitments;
  • family information submitted in forwarded emails, uploaded notices, photos, PDFs, pasted text, and manual entries;
  • events, responsibilities, assignments, coordinator corrections, and source history created from that information;
  • SMS records, including phone numbers, approved message content, delivery evidence, replies, STOP/START/HELP controls, and consent evidence; and
  • limited technical and operational records needed to secure, troubleshoot, and run the pilot.

Can-U asks for information that is reasonably needed to provide and support the pilot. Please do not submit information the household does not need Can-U to organize.

Why Can-U uses information

Can-U uses personal information to authenticate coordinators, keep household records separate, organize submitted family information, show a family calendar and responsibilities, send coordinator-approved SMS Asks, interpret replies, record consent and opt-outs, provide support, protect the service, and evaluate whether the limited pilot works reliably.

Can-U does not use the SMS program for marketing. It does not treat message delivery as proof that a recipient read or accepted an Ask.

Information about other people

A household coordinator may submit information about children, relatives, co-parents, caregivers, or other helpers. Coordinators are responsible for providing only information they are authorized to use for family coordination and for obtaining a recipient's permission before Can-U sends that person an SMS.

Service providers and disclosures

Can-U relies on service providers to operate the pilot. These include Supabase for database, authentication, storage, and server functions; OpenAI for structured interpretation of submitted family information; Twilio for SMS; Resend for service email; Lovable for pilot web hosting; and domain or infrastructure providers where needed.

Those providers may process information in Canada, the United States, or other places where they operate. Can-U may also disclose information when required by law, to protect the service or a person, or as part of a genuine business reorganization subject to appropriate protections. Can-U does not sell personal information.

All the above categories exclude text messaging originator opt-in data and consent; this information won’t be shared with any third parties.

The sentence above concerns sharing consent with third parties for their own purposes. Twilio and other providers may still process the minimum messaging data needed to deliver and secure the Can-U SMS program on Can-U's behalf.

Consent and choices

Where consent is required, Can-U gives notice of the purpose and seeks a form of consent appropriate to the information and context. SMS consent is optional and separate from use of the rest of the service. A recipient can text STOP to opt out, and START or UNSTOP to opt back in where supported.

Subject to legal and operational limits, a person may withdraw consent or ask to access or correct their personal information by contacting Can-U.

Retention and deletion

Can-U keeps personal information only as long as reasonably needed for the pilot, the household's use of the service, security and incident response, consent and message records, legal obligations, and resolution of disputes. Retention periods vary by record type.

When information is no longer required, Can-U deletes it or de-identifies it using reasonable procedures. A household's deletion request may not immediately remove records that must be retained for legal, security, opt-out, or audit reasons.

Security

Can-U uses access controls, household-level authorization, private storage, signed webhooks, transport security, and operational safeguards appropriate to a small pilot. No internet service can guarantee absolute security.

Children and family information

Can-U is used by adult coordinators. It is not directed to children for account creation. A coordinator may include a child's name and relevant family schedule information when authorized and reasonably necessary for household coordination.

Questions, access, or complaints

The person accountable for Can-U's privacy practices can be reached at support@can-u.ai. Please include enough detail to identify the household or SMS number involved without sending sensitive family documents by ordinary email.

Changes to this policy

Can-U may update this policy as the pilot changes. The effective date at the top identifies the current version. Material changes that affect SMS consent will be reflected in the SMS disclosure version and consent workflow.
